Las Vegas, the seat of Clark County, is mostly known for its casinos, hotels and weddings but only a few people do know more about the largest city in Nevada. Around 600,000 people live in Las Vegas while Clark County has nearly 2 millions citizens. Las Vegas is a very young city. It was founded in 1905. For the first time the valley was mentioned in a report in 1829. At that time the area of today’s Las Vegas was still a Mexican territory. The unbelievable expansion of the city started in 1931, when gambling was legalized in the city. In 1946, the first hotel was opened at the Las Vegas Boulevard better known as The Strip.

Interestingly, one of the most exiting and luxury places of the world was built in a desert and elevated 620 m above sea level. Las Vegas is situated on the Mojave Desert. The dry climate and the desert floor are supported by the dry mountains that surround the city. Therefore, the natural vegetation is dominated by dessert plants and little wildlife. Due to external water supply, the vegetation within the city is much greener than in the dirty environment around the city.  Due to the climate, the sun is shining in Las Vegas more than 300 days per year. Especially in summer time Las Vegas city is getting very hot while in winter time the temperatures are getting remarkably low.

Not surprisingly, the main industries in Las Vegas are the tourism, wedding and gambling industries. There are several companies which are closely related to the gambling industry. Most of these industries are connected to gambling or entertainment business. Since the number of the population has been rising for years, the construction and housekeeping companies are very successful.
